Learn To Row
Getting into Rowing?
If you’ve ever wanted to give rowing a try then this is for you. Whether you need a change from gym work or an incentive to get out and get some exercise then why not try rowing?

Aimed at complete adult beginners, the 'Learn to Row' course takes about 6 weeks to complete and is part of the British Rowing Learn to Row Scheme. You will be taught by qualified and experienced rowing coaches who will help you develop the skills you need to row safely, row fast and enjoy one of the best stretches of the River Severn here at Upton.

Information
What To Wear
Sports kit and trainers will do. When you’re ready to take to the water you’ll be told by the coaches what’s best to wear.
Where to park
Please park in the meadow beyond the boat house.
Capsize Drill
You must be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing or will need to wear a buoyancy aid. Safety is paramount so it is a requirement of the course that you complete the capsize drill (in a swimming pool) which the club organises for all beginners, subject to COVID 19 rules
Do I have to be fit to start the course?
No – the coaches will take into account individual ability and fitness while creating your programme. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding your health. As with all exercise – if you are unsure whether to embark on the course speak to your local health professionals.
Am I to old to row?
No – you’re never too old to row. It is a low impact activity so rowers can keep going well into their seventies and eighties. The coaches will put crews together so that everyone is matched as far as possible in terms of age and ability
